Our LEA Licensed Electrical Practice (LEP) Tutorial is designed to prepare you for your Licensed Electrical Practice (LEP) Assessment.

The Licensed Electrician Practical Tutorial is Suitable For

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology students that have completed all relevant units of competency and met profiling requirements.
  • Participants who hold Australian Trades Recognition Certificate
  • Participants who hold an Electrician (Supervised) Worker’s Licence (ES licence)
  • Participants who hold a Supervised Worker’s Licence (L Licence)
  • Participants who have received a letter of approval from Energy Safe Victoria

Licensed Electrician Practical Tutorial Outcomes

This short course will demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to undertake wiring a metre box, switchboard, MEN system testing, identifying visual defects and testing an installation.

Transfers and Refunds

A refund or transfer is only possible if you notify Short Courses 5 business days prior to the course commencement date via email or phone call. A standard handling fee of 10% of the advertised course fee will be deducted from each refund except in the instance where the course is cancelled by the Institute. Requirements

You must be 18 years or older to attend this course.

Materials

You must wear long sleeves, long pants and covered footwear as per section 11 of AS/NZS 4836:2023. If you do not wear the correct clothing, you will be denied entry.

You must bring:

  • AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring Rules (including Amendments 1 & 2)
  • AS/NZS 3008.1.1:2025 Electrical Installations – Selection of Cables
  • AS/NZS 3017:2022 Electrical Installations Testing & Inspection Guidelines
  • The Victorian Service and Installation Rules 2014

As of the 1st July 2015, All candidates are required to bring your own an Insulation Resistance Tester for LEA tutorials and assessments.

The criteria for the testers is:

  • Analogue
  • No indication for Pass or Fail
  • Minimum of 250V/500V scale
  • Minimum 2 x continuity scales
  • True moving coil meter
  • The tester has to have been tested recently calibrated for accuracy
