Elizabeth Mitchell

Elizabeth has been teaching and researching in Accounting and Finance for over 9 years.

Elizabeth has extensive experience supporting the student journey. The administration requirements of the department require an extensive array of skills and include supporting academic program governance, student management systems, ensuring program spending with fiscal responsibility, data collation and management, resulting and awarding of qualifications, project management and facilitator of program operational meetings. She is focused on providing innovative and quality accounting programs that adapt to changes in the accounting industry and prepare students for careers in accounting and business. Her present focus on research in lean methods of higher education and financial literacy provide a focal point in identify how accounting staff and students can be supported in meeting their goals.

Currently Elizabeth is the Head of Program Accounting Degrees at Melbourne Polytechnic (MP) and responsible for:

  • Leading the delivery of undergraduate and post graduate higher education accounting degrees;
  • Ensuring the quality of teaching and curriculum;
  • Provide academic leadership and administration of TEQSA course accreditations;
  • Provide academic leadership and administration of professional body course accreditations (CPA Australia, CA ANZ);
  • Leadership to academic staff;
  • Leadership in scholarship and applied research to academic staff;
  • Contributing towards and supporting implementation of MP strategic planning;
  • Overseeing and contributing to policy development;
  • Fostering professional and industry relationships, across Victoria, Australia and internationally;
  • Engagement in current research;
  • Supporting student enrolments, orientation, timetable coordination, etc.
